road blockS

what really happened...

Time: 130 am to 2 am.. Venue: Along west coast road and the road towards JE from teban gardens..

Heres the conversation at the first road block:

Police: Where were you from?

MJFL: West coast mac.

POlice: Where are you going?

MJFL: Home after studying..

Then we were told to park our car at the side. I thought they will just search the car and thats it... NOPE!

Police: Take out your ICs(both) and driving liscence(for darling)

MJFL: OH!

For a moment, I was awaken form my dreamy night... ICs... Never have I been asked for IC by a policeman! Though I didn't do anything wrong, i felt scared...

Following that, he called back to some HQs and have our ICs checked.

Police: Is this your car?

darling: my dad's one, we can't afford one you see, we are students.

POlice: Oh.. this car is rather affordable actually.

MJ's thought: "HUH? hmm... huh? what a comment.. is that a friendly policeman trying to strike some conversation with some commoners? Or he just thinks that we, undergrads are rich? A car leh! How to afford one when you are still trying to survive and giving tuitions to make your living..."

So after some checking of the car and recording+checking of ICs, we were finally released...Though i felt a tinge of relief that our policemen is doing their job, but i thought that they were wasting their time on us. The whole process took about 10 to 15 minutes...maybe there were more thieves to be caught somewhere else.. IF you had watched "The chaser", you can't help but ponder about the efficieny of policemen...

At the same time, I think the other van beside us were driven by indian foreign workers.. I was thinking why only both our vehicles were stopped...

After putting in some thoughts, maybe our reason of studying at Mac is just too LAME to be true??? Come on! We are youngsters! I bet if we said we just went home from clubbing, maybe he will just test darling's breath and thats it....... haha.. so i learnt that the reason you give should follow the stereotype of typical youngsters...

Guess what? along that short route home, we encountered ANOTHER road block... haha.. its quite funny, given that the policemen asked the same starting questions. I think they are trained this way... But this time round, we being more experienced, immediately flashed our ICs and confessed about our previous road block. Within seconds, he let us passed..... hmm... we were so "lucky"! a pity we didn't buy lottery... aiya!

While other days we were already asleep by 2am, this very day, we were checked by some policemen. Thankfully, its a pleasant experience. =)

Of course, one that we hope we only encounter once.

Thinking of the next Sentosa trip...

I LOVE this photo! The light, the wind and the wet hair makes me look a Hot BABE! (not pig if you are thinking of one!) maybe I would be even hotter if .......... I could....... minus off my partner... you know being SINGLE just makes you hotter... hahaha.....*winks*

Just went to sentosa with his friends... or maybe orientation groupmates... Though I felt very old there..Most of them (both girls and guys) are below 21 with majority of the girls being only about 18 or 19... OMG! I wished I was still that young... Nevertheless, I still enjoyed myself. They were sporty and we played lots of games.... finally my beach volleyball skills came into play...
I can't help but admit that I am oo..ol....OLD! so old... After the games, I came home feeling so tired. I think being fit is a history now. Kind of wished Sentosa outing is a weekly thing, then I can rewrite history...

In the past, i have been wondering whats life like to be over 20s...
I guess now, I have an answer to my life before 23,

It is a life

MORE of being
1. studious
2. Family oriented
3. richer
4. Tai Tai (Manicure, pedicure, high tea, resturants. hotels)
5. conscious of hair, age, figure, skin and etc...
6. Street smart (I know my darling would disagree!, but I was worse last time...)
7. less Dreamy
8. Realistic
9. Selfish
10. and definitely BORINg...

LESS of being
1. healthy
2. Sporty
3. Gullible
4. Sacrificial... when I was a kid, Iwould die to save a cat. But I wouldn't now.
hmm...

The "muging" Mmilky...

Don't be fooled by her innocent look, she jumped onto my table and insisted on covering my notes! I had to shove her aside just to make space (BARELY ENOUGH) to do work...
But I still love her... =)

LIFE GOES ON...

Looking at all the photos, you must have thought that I was very happy?
I guess you would never even have expected that I just FAILED my 2ND driving test that morning...
I was really disheartened this time round coz i dun deserve to fail... I truely believe that luck plays a major factor in driving test..... I am cursed... Though I hope I am not for the rest of my driving..

To all who are gg to take driving test soon, better pray that your tester is good. I am going to sincerely pray very very hard for the third test le!

I find this quote (it woke me up from my self-obsessed depression) very encouraging,
" Being angry is allowing perople like him (stupid tester!) to ruin your day." Freddy Liew

This sentence really makes so much sense after i REPEATed the statement in my head! Why should I let him ruin my day?
So to all those unhappy or angry souls out there, dun let these people get to your nerves! stay happy.. =) you will only worry your loved ones when u are down...

Darling, thanks for being so super nice that day! (so unlike you.. haha) You were exceptionally accomodating (only after minusing my failed K box trip), in fact slightly more to the compromising side ...I love u for being this sweet. *Geez*

To all who are curious about my new hair, that is it!

1st day!

this pic looks good because the hair dresser just cut it and it was blown in a stylish manner.

nth day: Looking at the 2nd photo, you can see the vast difference...
Though I like the colour, I have received two feedbacks that when I am dressed in certain manner, i look like a typical "Ah Lian".. what a comment...
But again, that also meant that if I am not dressed in that certain manner, I should look like what i think I want to look..... haha... guess what i want to look?
Come again, look does not matters that much... hack it...

Anyway, mjfl just joined a beach volleyball class for fun.. and guess what are my friends first comment?

YH, CY and shawn: You are going to be real dark.
Thinking about that, I was pretty excited! dreaming to be a sporty babe...
But guess what? The session is from 7pm to 10pm... how disappointing... (**)
There goes my dream of beming a sporty babe...

Anyway, i also wanted to join cheerleading for fun... But when I walked past its booth for 2 days. The experience turned me off.
On day 1, the girls were trying to recruit guys only (from what i saw only)... I walked past their booth really looking interested...Or probably I didn't look keen enough... and oh man.. totally ignored...
On day 2, the people there do not seem to be friendly.. They just stood there, not approaching anyone.. not really eager to recruit people... probably they think that people will join only if they are interested.. No real need to recruit.. but i was interested, shouldn't they just explain to me what cheerleading is all about?
anyway, probably I don't look like a freshie...I am in Year 4 btw.. hehe...

what should I join???.... any suggestions???
I am still quite free... no deadlines to meet yet...

my teaching practice

Heello all!

we have just started school... =) And if you have just started too! then Welcome back to school! hmm.. this semester i have a very slack timetable.. like wednesday and thurs go to sch for only an hour tutorial.. omg.. that so sad.. waste time.... but no choice.. i can;t choose my timetable..

25th july marked the end of my practicum.. I had a real fruitful and enriching time at CSS.. If next year I am gg back, I totally do not mind.. =)
Although I must say as a beginning teacher, the preapration really kills!!! I merely sleep for 4 to 5 ours daily... When i was a student, I had a full 8 to 10 hours daily lo! This change really shocked me for a while.. I have never expected teaching to be so tiring... However looking at the positive side, at least i enjoyed the delivery part...

The kids at 3_7B really gave me another insight into teaching.. Initially most the days, I am literally dragging my feet in... If I was not thinking of how to make them excited for learning, then I must be thinking of how to make them more punctual for lessons.. Thank God at the end of the practicum, I have built rapport with the kids that they literally gave me face for being more punctual. Also, learning in class was no longer a major problem ... Though I must say it was not perfect, but i am consoled when compared to other classes. I walked past their class for their english, social studies and chinese lessons.. OMG.. they are either ALL sleeping or talking... REALLY! oh man... at least formath lesson, only 1 or 2 are sleeping if i used chalk and talk. If i used games or activity, hehez... I would have enjoyed the lesson with them. =) So in all, I must agreed with the NIE lecturers that rapoort with the class is very important..

For the express classes. honestly, knowing their names is the most important element,. 40 over students in a class.. a bit difficult to rememeber given that you only see them twice a week. though I did not have a strong rapport with them. In the end, one class surprised me with a big thank you card and a mini surprise. I was very touched.really was.. did not expect anything.. I Thank god for these bunch of appreciate kids..

Recently, I met up with my 3_7B and guess what? i wrote a little card, just a small card(for writing notes ffrom popular) cut into 2... Most of them actually kept them in their wallets! Was really touched.. They might not have wrote a card, like my express class.. but this little gesture shows that they appreciate my little efforts..

This teacing practice actually made me realised that at the end of everything, it is not the content that students take away, but the support and encouragement that a teacher gives.

Kungfu Panda and the Fats!

i just watched this show! =) Very nice! I literally laughed my hearts out! After the show, I felt so light both physically (not because I laughed so much that i had slimmed!) and mentally... its just the aftermath of this silly show is nothing but happiness. =)
And I guess my expressions are windows to my emotions! I was smiling and smiling and smiling... =) can't remember how long it takes for me to stop smiling. I just can't help it!
I simply love Po the panda. His kongfu attacks were funny mainly due to his weight and pot-bellied! Not only that, he made me realized the other view of FAts! As the chinese saying goes, "yi rou zi gang"! "Fats" has finally rebelled against the common notion of being negative. In this show, his "FAts" were his inner strength! They could withstand any intensity of force that his opponent used. =) Thats why he was so formidable that he saved the village! Though it might sound rather childish that i love Po because of his heroic acts. But he is irresistable! =)haha.. And I am seriously taking a different view at my fats... at the very least I am more positive about them... Maybe someday, my fats might save me! Maybe from breaking a fall? Maybe..can;t think of any...
so whats up with being slim and slender?! hack it.. =)
i simply love my FATS! =)

The Peak! yes a nice tourist scenary place where u can see a spectacular view of the whole hong kong... honestly paying S$4 to go in isn't really worth it but after spending half our time and a heafy transport fee to go there, 4 bucks means nothing... so we went and yup! got amazed by the view. BUt what amazed me or maybe us most over there is the tram. It slides down 45degress down the steep mountain at fast rate of 5m/s (my feel). It actually took us 1hr(by bus) to reach the Peak but 15mins (by tram ). No woner peeps pay more to sit the tram. =)

Food for thoughts for this holidays

Another glistening moment in our trip must be Disneyland! Being there just made us felt so magical. Our whole time there was enjoyable and memorable too.. You see people queuing up for half an hour under the sun to take photos with MINNE AND MICKY? are they worth out time? but nevertheless, we still queued... haha.. =) aiya.. come to think about it, we had lots of time back there.. and all the familiar characters were too attractive to resist!

Oh man! I am officially slacking... went to Hong Kong in the early May... It was so FUN! i really enjoyed myself... the dolphin show were a highlight! wow.. the dolphins were very well trained and obedient.

shopping and eating were our usual routine! Clock tower, tsim sha tsui, mongkok, central.. there were so many places that we shopped and dined... but hmm.. the mango dessert shop is one of our favourite! awe.. looking at it made us drooled.. delicious! There were mango glutinous rice, mango pudding, mango sauce, sweet and soft mango slices all in one dish! awe.. i miss it...

Not only that, the Pandas were so CUTe!

of course, in ocean park other than the animals, the rides were the main attraction! we tried all the rides and the one named "The AByss" was the most horrid one! ya.. i thought i was commiting suicie for a while, it was free falling! as a physics teacher, i can finally tell my kids how it feel to be accelerating at 9.81m per second square! haha..
