my teaching practice

Heello all!

we have just started school... =) And if you have just started too! then Welcome back to school! hmm.. this semester i have a very slack timetable.. like wednesday and thurs go to sch for only an hour tutorial.. omg.. that so sad.. waste time.... but no choice.. i can;t choose my timetable..

25th july marked the end of my practicum.. I had a real fruitful and enriching time at CSS.. If next year I am gg back, I totally do not mind.. =)
Although I must say as a beginning teacher, the preapration really kills!!! I merely sleep for 4 to 5 ours daily... When i was a student, I had a full 8 to 10 hours daily lo! This change really shocked me for a while.. I have never expected teaching to be so tiring... However looking at the positive side, at least i enjoyed the delivery part...

The kids at 3_7B really gave me another insight into teaching.. Initially most the days, I am literally dragging my feet in... If I was not thinking of how to make them excited for learning, then I must be thinking of how to make them more punctual for lessons.. Thank God at the end of the practicum, I have built rapport with the kids that they literally gave me face for being more punctual. Also, learning in class was no longer a major problem ... Though I must say it was not perfect, but i am consoled when compared to other classes. I walked past their class for their english, social studies and chinese lessons.. OMG.. they are either ALL sleeping or talking... REALLY! oh man... at least formath lesson, only 1 or 2 are sleeping if i used chalk and talk. If i used games or activity, hehez... I would have enjoyed the lesson with them. =) So in all, I must agreed with the NIE lecturers that rapoort with the class is very important..

For the express classes. honestly, knowing their names is the most important element,. 40 over students in a class.. a bit difficult to rememeber given that you only see them twice a week. though I did not have a strong rapport with them. In the end, one class surprised me with a big thank you card and a mini surprise. I was very touched.really was.. did not expect anything.. I Thank god for these bunch of appreciate kids..

Recently, I met up with my 3_7B and guess what? i wrote a little card, just a small card(for writing notes ffrom popular) cut into 2... Most of them actually kept them in their wallets! Was really touched.. They might not have wrote a card, like my express class.. but this little gesture shows that they appreciate my little efforts..

This teacing practice actually made me realised that at the end of everything, it is not the content that students take away, but the support and encouragement that a teacher gives.
